What this service covers

Shed Assembly by Hello Handy

A shed is only as good as its base. We check that your base is level and dry, set the floor out square, then build the panels up in order so the walls stay true and the doors do not drop over the first winter.

Wooden, metal, plastic and resin sheds are all covered, along with bike stores and garden storage boxes. Roof felt or sheeting is secured properly and doors and windows are adjusted so everything opens and closes smoothly before we leave.

  • Weather-tight wooden garden sheds
  • Secure metal shed assembly
  • Plastic & resin shed builds
  • Garden storage box assembly
  • Sturdy bike sheds

How to book shed assembly

  1. 1

Send the shed model and base details

Size, material and what the shed will stand on — slabs, concrete or a timber base.

  2. 2

    Choose hours and team size

Most sheds over 6x4 are a two-person job because panels need holding while they are fixed.

  3. 3

    Square base and panels

Base checked for level and square, floor set out, then panels raised and fixed in order.

  4. 4

    Weather-tight finish

Roof felt or sheeting secured, doors and windows adjusted, offcuts and packaging gathered.

  • We had a shed we needed assembling, and Adam made sure it went up smoothly. It was such a relief to see him assess the base, judge what needed doing, and then at the end of the day a brand new shed was standing strong and tall in our garden.

Shed Assembly — frequently asked questions

Do you build the base as well?

No. We build on an existing level base — slabs, concrete or a timber frame. Tell us what you have and we will say whether it is suitable before booking.

Can you build a metal or plastic shed?

Yes. Metal and plastic sheds have many small fixings and usually take a similar time to a wooden shed of the same size.

How long does a 6x4 shed take?

Around three hours for a small wooden shed with a good base. Larger sheds are nearer five hours and go faster with two people.

What if it rains on the day?

Light rain is usually workable. In heavy rain or high wind we will reschedule rather than fit panels and felt in conditions that spoil the finish.

Do you treat or paint the shed?

Timber treatment is not part of the build. We can look at it as a separate painting visit once the shed is up and dry.

Do you need access through the house?

Side or rear access is ideal. If panels must come through the house, tell us in advance so we can protect floors and doorways.
